THE PHYSICS HOUSE BAND
Jazz rock group The Physics House Band have emerged with their first full length LP since the groups inception in 2012. In that time they've built a worldwide cult following in the wake of a handful of experimental EP's, collaborations with the likes of Stewart Lee, Flamingods and Kai Whiston, and most notably for their intensely visceral live performances from DIY spaces to festival stages.
The group have toured and performed alongside artists from across the sonic spectrum, including Alt-J, Jaga Jazzist, Mono, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Django Django, as well as extensive touring across Japan, Europe and the United Kingdom. The group has accumulated high praise from The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Times, NPR, Anthony Fantano, and BBC Radio.
'Incident On 3rd' is a 54-minute roaming of a specious metropolitan environment, dusk to dawn. At moments standing on the sidewalk cleansing in the neon and ornate structures, precipitating to other moments slumped in the rotting jazz clubs that populate the district's underworld. This new record sees the group further connecting with the jazz and improvisational nature to their music, but never deviating far away from the uniquely chaotic sound which they're widely celebrated for.
The work was recorded and produced by Dave Lynch at his Eastbourne-based Echo Zoo studios (Kokoroko, Yussef Dayes, Tom Misch) - performed on a wealth of vintage synthesizers and instruments, cut and mixed to tape.
The Physics House Band is Samuel Organ (Guitar, Keyboards), Miles Spilsbury (Saxophone, Keyboards), Dave Morgan (Drums).
